Significant work and progress has been made since April 2004. Recent events and current projects include:

In February 2006 the provincial government announced that through a government-to-government process, the province has reached agreement with First Nations regarding final land use designations and EBM. These agreements outline a structure and process for achieving full implementation of EBM by 2009. This includes Detailed Strategic Plans that will work towards a system for EBM that considers both human well-being and ecological integrity in an integrated fashion.

CFCI completed a series of EBM workshops in April and June 2006. Over 200 forest practitioners and interested individuals were involved in this training. The workshops were held in Campbell River and Port McNeill and an information session was also held in Queen Charlotte City.

An independent implementation monitoring project will be initiated in September to assess the forest planning and operations in 2006 and provide feedback on implementation to customers, stakeholders and CFCI forest practitioners.
